Help children learn the useful social skills of “Asking for Permission” and “Making an Apology.” Activities and games in this book teach the steps to these skills featured in the storybook SORRY, I Forgot to Ask!, part of the BEST ME I Can Be! series for students in grade K through 6. Author Julia Cook gives teachers creative ideas using paper snowball fights, school litter hunts, role plays, and poster making so students work and think hard while having fun practicing the skills. Students are asking to brainstorm answers to “what if” questions, create “apology triangles,” use objects such as stew ingredients and balloons to visualize the skills, write reports of interviews with parents or relatives, and act out scenes that help them practice asking for permission and saying they’re sorry. Each activity provides a list of materials when needed, teacher instructions, and the enclosed CD includes reproducible handouts, worksheets, and reward coupons. These skills are promoted in Well-Managed Schools as part of the Boys Town Education Model®.
